Where the profile picture sits
Your circular avatar overlaps the lower-left of the header, and on mobile the header is cropped shallower than 3:1, losing height from the top and bottom.
Keep important content in the centre-right of the frame and away from the vertical extremes.
In-timeline cropping
Images posted in a tweet are cropped to about 16:9 in the timeline and only shown in full when tapped. A tall image gets a centre slice in the preview.
If a single image must read correctly at a glance, post it at 1600 × 900 so the preview is the whole image rather than a crop of it.
Frequently asked questions
- What size is a Twitter/X header?
- 1500 × 500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. Mobile crops it shallower, so keep content away from the top and bottom edges.
- What size should a tweet image be?
- 1600 × 900 (16:9) matches the timeline preview crop, so the whole image is visible without tapping.
